Inspirational story of Ram Chandra Agarwal
You might have heard stories of many successful businessmen who left their houses with a few bucks and later made thousand crores empire. They all struggled a lot, faced hard situations but still they had a bonus point and that was “a healthy body”. Today, we’ll talk about a man who lacked this bonus point and still built Rs. 1,000 Crore empire, not just once but Twice.
This story is Mr. Ram Chandra Agarwal. Born in a poor family, he was affected by polio in a young age and lost his ability to walk. Crutches helped him move from a place to another but day by day his life became a struggle. His family’s support made him believe in himself and he successfully completed his graduation by 1986. After graduation he took some loan and opened a photocopy shop.
After running the photocopy shop for a year, he did market researchand started business of retail clothing outlet. He set up a garment shop in Lal Bazar of Kolkata. After managing it for around 15 years and getting some experience out of it. He planned to go beyond and in 2001, Ram Chandra Agarwal moved to Delhi to start his new retail business.
He started Vishal Retail which was a small outlet at first, but it grew bigger day by day. Ram Chandra is became the first one who introduced Hypermarket concept in India in 2002, when he launched Vishal Mega Mart in Delhi. The business grew big and than he opened Vishal Mega Mart stores in many cities. The company rolled out an Initial Public Offering of Rs. 2,000 crores in 2007.
Unfortunately, due to market crisis Vishal Retail suffered a huge loss of Rs. 750 and the company became bankrupt. Agarwal worked hard and sold the business to Shriram Group in 2011.
Even after seeing such big loss, he didn’t gave up and started a new retail chain called V2 Retail and once again entered into the world of retail business. V2 Retail limited is one of India’s fastest growing retail companies. It offers a wide range of apparel and non-apparel products. This new company has already opened its own outlet in 32 cities across India. V2 Retail share price is also doing well at market.
Despite being a paralyzed he went against all the odds and his belief in himself made him a star businessman. His story is very inspirational and if he can reach his goals than you can also do it.
